Fleming Lure, PHD
Dr. Lure is a scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur who enjoys sharing his successes (and failures) in proposal writing, conducting R&D, and the commercialization of biomedical products. As Principal Investigator (PI) of SBIR/STTR grants (Phase I and II; 13 total as PI for NIH) or Program Manager (4 total) of NIH/CMS or DoD SBIR/STTR (2 as PI) projects, he has worked in the biomedical and bioengineering industry for 20+ years, including at big and small publicly-traded as well as start-up companies. Dr. Lure specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) of biomedical images. Specifically, he:
Wrote business plans and taught business-plan writing to assist start-up companies successfully raise venture capital;
Led a team performing SBIR/STTR research and successfully converted it into commercial biomedical/bioengineering products that received FDA pre-market approval (P000041 and several supplemental PMA, S01, S02, etc.);
Led a team to establish quality system regulation (QSR) compliance, including writing documentation and procedures for lifecycle biomedical product development, from bench to bedside;
Developed and wrote study protocols for preclinical and clinical trials, including statistical analysis, inclusion and exclusion criteria, study design, data analysis, and security;
Wrote 70+ journal and conference paper (available upon request) as well as 10+ patent applications, with 11 awarded thus far.
Served as a reviewer of grant applications on biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and big data for government agencies and non-government organizations;
Wrote many contract proposals (ranging from $1 to $75 million) for big and mid-size companies submitted to NASA, NOAA, HHS, CMS, DoD on information and biomedical technologies;
Mentored and lectured students and researchers, as adjunct professor, to conduct R&D, publish, and develop and write research SBIR/STTR proposals.
